Nellie Kate Burns, 87, formerly of Robbins, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at Peak Resources-Pinelake, in Carthage.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at First Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Sam Swinney and the Rev. Wilson Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Rest Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Kennedy Funeral Home, in Robbins.
She was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Carolina Lace in Robbins. Nellie was the daughter of the late Joseph and Kate White Poe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Burns; and 11 of her 12 siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy Sullivan and husband, Cicero, of Mooresville; her son, Randall Burns and wife, Katrina, of Carthage; a sister, Jean Harris, of Asheboro; grandchildren, Michael Riddle, Billy Riddle, Nicholas Burns, Daniel Burns and Samantha Burns; and six great-grandchildren.
