Elisabeth Hedwig Goring, 89, of Shelby, went to her Lord Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at White Oak Manor, in Shelby.
A funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home and Crematory, in Shelby, with the Rev. Terry Floyd officiating.
Elisabeth was born Nov. 2, 1921, in Winterstein, Germany, where she spent her youth. In early adulthood, she worked in Balterswil, Switzerland. She came to America in 1963, living in Arizona and California, where she worked as a masseuse and homemaker. In 1988, she moved to Aberdeen and lived there until 2006, when she began her nursing care in Shelby.
She is survived by her life-long friend and companion, Franz J. Hani, of Aberdeen; two half-sisters, Lore Bottinger and Christa Bachmann, both of Winterstein, Germany; first cousin Heidi Herzeberg, of Arizona; beloved godchild Dr. Elke Konig, of Leipzig, Germany; and loving friends Philip, Silvia, Alex, Julian and Katrina Jiamachello, of Shelby, and Erwin, Julie, Joseph, Preston and Tyler Hani, of Asheville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150; or to White Oak Manor, 401 N. Morgan St., Shelby, NC 28150.
We would like to thank all family, friends and caring staff of both the White Oak Manor and Hospice for all the loving care they have provided for our sweet Elisabeth.
