Joan Bistline Hawkins, 82, of Laurinburg, died Friday, July 29, 2011.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at the Morris Morgan Room, Scotia Village, with the Rev. Elizabeth Forester officiating.
Born July 12, 1929, in Chambersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Maryl O. and Beula King Bistline, and the widow of the late Jesse Mill Hawkins. She lived in Akron, Ohio, and retired to Pinehurst and later Laurinburg. Joan enjoyed traveling — especially going to the beach, reading, sewing and playing bridge.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Wuestenfeld, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kathi Schrein, of Hiram, Ga.; a sister, Barbara Tauber, of Hollidaysburg, Pa.; and four grandchildren.
