John D. Jordan
Chaplain John Donald Jordan, 73, of Pinehurst, passed Sunday, April 17, 2011, at the Carolinas Medical Center, in Charlotte.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 30, at The Village Chapel, in Pinehurst, with the Rev. John Stone officiating.
Mr. Jordan was born April 23, 1938, in Burlington, to the late John Adam and Vera Bayliff Jordan. He was the pastor of churches in Wyoming, Florida and North Carolina. He served as a chaplain for the N.C. Department of Corrections for 26 years and was very much active in the prison ministry up until his passing. He was also the pastor of the First Associate Reform Presbyterian Church of the Sandhills.
Mr. Jordan is survived by his wife of 51 years, Becky M. Jordan; two sons, Donald Kent Jordan, of Charleston, S.C., and John Yates Jordan and wife, Donna, of Atlanta; a daughter, Beth Jordan Holt and husband, Curtis, of Seven Lakes; three grandchildren, Amber Holt, of Seven Lakes, and Carson and Kiley Jordan, of Charleston; two brothers, Michael Jordan, of Buchanan, Va., and Bobby Jordan, of Burlington; a sister, Nancy Jordan Truluck, of Atlanta; and many nieces and nephews.
