Essie Irene Brown Freeman, 84, of Lansing, died Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Guiding Light Baptist Church, in Robbins, where she was a member, with the Rev. Clyde Allen officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 1 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
She was born in Montgomery County to Vernon Bright and Mary Annie Campbell Wilson. She was a retired textile inspector.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ettie Brown Maness, of Carthage, Lloyd Eugene Brown, of Calhoun, Ga., Tony Clarence Brown, of Robbins, Lawrence Harold Brown, of Sevierville, Tenn., Clifford Wayne Brown, of Aberdeen, and Karen Irene Brown, of Lansing; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
