MCCOY
Maphra Sheppard Adams McCoy, 74, of Pinebluff, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Ives Memorial Baptist Church, in Pinebluff, with the Rev. Don Ballinger officiating. Burial will follow in Pinebluff Cemetery. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines.
A native of Moore County and daughter of the late Ernest B. and Nina H. Sheppard, Mrs. McCoy was the wife of the late E. G. Adams, Jr., followed by the late Neville W. McCoy. She was a high school teacher for Moore County Schools for 32 years, teaching architectural drafting. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening. Devoted to God and her family, she was committed to family values, gatherings and her community. She poured her love into everything she did. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her children, Danny Adams and wife, Traci, of Pinehurst, Timmy Adams and wife, Suzie, of Pinehurst, Kay Asbill, of Aberdeen, Clara Rackley and husband, Mike, of Mt. Olive, Myra Hamilton and husband, Chris, of Columbia, S.C., Jean Jackson and husband, Greg, of Pinebluff, and Darrell McCoy and wife, Carol, of Clemmons; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Frank Sheppard, of Pinebluff, and Noel Sheppard, of Pinebluff; and her sister, Brenda Corea, of Madera, Calif. She was preceded in death by her brother Braley Sheppard and her sister Virginia Bumgarner.
