James Dwight Howie Jr., 64, of Carthage, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Chaplain Bob Bulles officiating.
He was born April 26, 1946, in Lee County, to the late James Dwight Howie and Bertha Yow Howie. Mr. Howie retired as a sergeant from the N.C. Department of Corrections, where he worked for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Dean Bailey, of Carthage; his stepfather, Leroy L. Wilson, of Carthage; a son, Dwayne Howie and wife, Sherry, of Carthage; a daughter, Anita Howie Wicker and husband, Curtis, of Carthage; and six grandchildren, Crystal Howie, Amie Howie, Jessica Howie, Braeden Love, Gabriella Wicker and Noel Wicker.
