Diane B. Weis
Diane Babinchak Weis, 75, devoted wife and mother, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2011, at her residence. She formerly resided in Grove City, Pa., and Mount Vernon, Ohio.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 21, at Community Presbyterian Church, in Pinehurst, preceded by special music at 10:45 a.m. Family will receive friends following the service.
Diane was born June 26, 1935, in Warren, Ohio, to the late Helen Frankie and Michael T. Babinchak Jr. She received her nurse’s training at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, graduating in 1956. Upon graduation she worked as a nurse in the southwestern United States. She met her husband in Akron while working at Akron Children’s Hospital in 1963 and they were married that same year. Later in her career she worked in home health care.
She was a member of the Sandhills Post-Polio Health Group and was also chaplain of P.E.O. She was an active member of Pinehurst Community Presbyterian Church and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed flower gardening, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. Despite the many physical challenges she faced, she always had a positive outlook on life.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jerry; sons Eric Weis and wife, Jill, of Alamo, Calif., and Jonathan Weis and wife, Heather, of Mebane; daughters Kathleen Yereb and husband, David, of Stephens City, Va., and Marie Riedesel and husband, John, of Carthage; brother Michael Babinchak III, of Barcelona, Spain; sister Kathryn Savu, of Warren, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Alexa, Lauren, Holly and Lydia. She was predeceased by her parents and grandson Nicholas.
