Nancy S. Stone

Nancy Sherrill Williams Stone, 66, of Pinehurst, passed away Friday, April 15, 2011, at home surrounded by her beloved family after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, at Boles Funeral Home in Pinehurst.
A private celebration-of-life memorial service will be held in Mills River, N.C., at a later date.
Sherri, as she was affectionately known, was born December 23, 1944, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to the late Byron and Betty Williams, who preceeded her in death. She graduated from College High School in Bowling Green, Ky., and attended Western Kentucky University, where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority.
While residing in Hendersonville, Sherri retired from a career as an administrative assistant in real estate. She moved to Pinehurst in 2008 to be close to family.
In 2009, she joined the Moore County Farmers Market, where she opened Sherri’s Breads, selling homemade quick-bread to Moore County residents on Mondays and Saturdays.
She is survived by daughters, Kelly DeLong and husband Jim, of Pinehurst, Kim Stone and partner, Karla, of Miami, Fla., Carey Stone, of Seattle, Wash.; and son, Sean Stone and wife, Maria, of Williston Park, N.Y.; grandchildren, Kyle Crisp, Logan Crisp, Abigail Stone, Alexander Stone, Jake Stone and Quinn Jones-Stone.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
