Gorton M. Arnold

Gorton M. Arnold, 96, of Whispering Pines, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date, at Lorraine Park Cemetery, in Baltimore.
Gorton was born Aug. 15, 1914, in Sunman, Ind., to Lena and Gorton M. Arnold Sr. He was a graduate of Lawrenceburg, Ind., High School and the University of Louisville. He retired in 1980 from Joseph E. Seagram and Sons after a 47-year management career in accounting and finance in Lawrenceburg, Louisville, Ky., Nashville, Tenn., Baltimore and New York City. He was a member of the Masons and Oasis Shriners.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Crook Arnold; son, Richard S. Arnold (Bette), of West Hartford, Conn.; daughter, Sally Jean Sullivan (William), of Southport; four grandchildren, Richard S. Arnold Jr. (Judith), of Los Altos, Calif., Leonard W. Arnold (Cynthia), of Los Altos, Collin V. Sullivan, of Boston, and Stacey J. Sullivan, of Wilmington; and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
