Ernest Clyde Black Sr., 89, of West End, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
A graveside service, with military honors, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 15, at Pinelawn Memorial Park Mausoleum, in Southern Pines, with the Rev. Terry Burris officiating. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 14, at Boles Funeral Home, in Southern Pines.
Ernest was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Neal and Walter “Bill” Black; wife, Luna J. Black; and son Ernest “Clyde” Black Jr.
He is survived by his son Marcus V. Black Sr. and wife, Lisa Black, of West End; grandson Marcus V. “Joe” Black Jr.; granddaughter Melissa V. Black-Smith and husband, Jon Smith; granddaughter Jennifer Thompson and husband, Buddy Thompson; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Advila Millikan, of Rockingham, Ethel Lee Monroe, of Aberdeen, and Pearl Welch, of West End.
