TEN BRAAK
Anthony John tenBraak, 80, of Pinehurst, passed Tuesday, April 12, 2011, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 18, at The Village Chapel, in Pinehurst, with Dr. Glenn I. Miller officiating.
Mr. tenBraak was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Amsterdam, to the late Hendricus and Johanna Mentink tenBraak. He served as a first lieutenant in the Royal Dutch Air Force prior to immigrating to the United States, becoming a citizen in 1959. He worked in the chemical industry in the Chicago, Cincinnati, Philadelphia and New Jersey areas (Allied Chemical, vice president G.A.F, and vice president Buffalo Color Corp.). He proudly served for 23 years on the Morris Township, N.J., board of adjustment from 1973 to 1996, and as chairman from 1989 to 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cecilia Powell tenBraak; two sons, Richard tenBraak and wife, Lindsey, of Vail, Colo., and Christian tenBraak and wife, Jan, of Littleton, Colo.; a daughter, Johanna Weber and husband Joseph, of San Diego; and four grandchildren, Jennifer Weber, Matthew Weber, Jakob tenBraak and Maxwell tenBraak. He was preceded in death by a brother, Gerard tenBraak.
Anthony enjoyed bridge, gardening, golf, boating, tennis, travel, listening to music and gatherings with his family. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his friendly personality, and his devotion to family, friends and his community.
