Robert J. Iverson

Robert John Iverson, 86, of Pinehurst, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 3, 2011, at his home, surrounded by those he loved.
The family will celebrate his life at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at The Village Chapel, Pinehurst, with Dr. Ashley Smith officiating. There will be a small reception for friends and family following the service in the chapel hall.
Bob held positions of increasing responsibility in manufacturing operations for several industrial segments of E. I. DuPont de Nemours and Co. His family often moved to pursue new opportunities, but Bob always put them first in every decision, career and otherwise. He was passionate about all things mechanical, especially if they were wheeled and powered. After his family, his workshop was his pride and joy.
Bob completed a number of complete vehicle restorations during his life as well as countless workshop projects for family and friends.  Maiden voyages of his motorized achievements will be missed on the roadways that cradle Pinehurst No. 7. Later in life, Bob gladly gave of his time and skill to service wheelchairs when they fell into disrepair at Moore Regional Hospital. First and foremost he was a simple man who loved all kinds of people and was happiest when he could help someone else.
He was oh so loved, and will be ever so missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Jeanne Andrews Iverson, of Pinehurst; a daughter, Kimberly Iverson, of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Tracy Iverson and his wife, Tracy Cook, and their daughter, Emma, of Brentwood, Tenn.; and four sisters, Marjorie Iverson, Esther Lindhal, his twin, Roz Hazelton, and Donna Lee Peterson, all of Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to FirstHealth Hospice, 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374, or to the Unity Church of Christianity, 4211 Maize Road, Columbus, OH 43224. Online condolences may be made at www.bolesfuneralhome.com.
