Hazel Marie Frye Sigmon, 101, died Friday, April 1, 2011, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, in Pinehurst.
Funeral services and interment were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 4, in the mausoleum at Catawba Memorial Park, in Hickory, with the Rev. Gregg Newton officiating. The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday prior to the service in the mausoleum.
Mrs. Sigmon was born Nov. 3, 1909, in Catawba county, to the late John H. and Ida Mae Killian Frye. She was a homemaker and had been a member of both Highland Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Hickory prior to moving to Southern Pines, where she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Winston Turner Sigmon, in 1993; a daughter, Julia Ann Harris; and two granddaughters, Diane Harris Sink and Anna Denise Harris.
She is survived by two daughters, Frances Suggs, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Janice Batchelor, of Southern Pines; six grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
