Andrew Lee Croft, 83, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
A memorial service, with full Navy military honors, will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Little River Golf and Resort, in Carthage, with Mr. Mike Lucas officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends after the service.
Mr. Croft was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Bedford, Va., to the late Roy S. Croft and Mabel Cross Croft. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired with the N.C. Department of Corrections as a sergeant in the early ’90s.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Croft, Hal Croft and Mack Croft; and two sisters, Jo Milton and Jane Arthur. He is survived by two sons, Rex Croft Starr and wife, Patty, of Vida, Ore., and William “Bill” Croft and wife, Sara, of Raeford; two daughters, Susan C. Lawhon and husband, Robert, of Carthage, and Linda C. Perry and husband, Steven, of Dunedin, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Brandy W. Riffle and husband, Quentin, of Greenville; a brother, Paul Croft, of Arlington, Va.; three sisters, Nell Blandford and husband, Don, of Bedford, Va., Ann Fugua, of Clinton, Md., and Nancy Gray, of Altavista, Va.; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
