Sally R. Light

Sally Anne Rives Light, 72, recently of Castine, Maine, and Pinehurst, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 28, 2010, at Duke University Hospital after a six-month battle against surgical complications as the result of cancer treatment. She was with family.
A devoted wife of almost 52 years, loving mother, great friend and avid shopper, Sally Anne touched many people in many ways, and will be sorely missed and fondly remembered.
She joins her parents, Col. Robert and Virginia Rives, and brother, Robert Mac Rives, at God's side, and is survived by husband, William R. Light Jr.; son and daughter-in-law, William R. Light III and Maureen Light, of Natick, Mass.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert MacHenry and Eleanor Light, of Herndon, Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Edward DeJarnette and Anne Light, of Durham; and grandchildren, Cullen, William, Alexander, Elizabeth, and Erin. She was blessed as well with Henry and Angelica Light and family, Caroline and Bill Triplett and family and Elliott and Sonya Light and family.
A graduate of Warren County High School, Front Royal, Va., she also graduated from Duke University. She retired from Digital Equipment Corporation and subsequently Intel Corporation in Massachusetts. She was honored at Intel by being designated an Intel employee of the year. Since retiring, she has been an avid traveler and bridge player
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Episcopal Church in Front Royal, Va., at 2 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 2.
