Betty L. McLaughlin

Betty Linda McLaughlin, 64, of West End, formerly of Medford Lakes, N.J., and Harrisburg, Pa., died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010.
Betty spent her childhood in Harrisburg, Pa., and graduated from Harrisburg Institute of Medical Arts, receiving her registered nursing degree. She worked as a nurse for Harrisburg State Hospital for many years. The last three years of her life she has followed her dream of helping and caring for animals.
She is survived by her three sons, Dennie and wife, Jill, of West End, Scott and wife, Erica, of Thomasville, Pa., Christopher, of West End; four grandchildren, Kylie, Cade, Bailey and Kendall; and brother, James Tarman and wife, Mary Ellen.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, H. James and F. Elizabeth Tarman, and twin brother, Robert N. Tarman. She will be missed by her friends and family. Sincere thanks to everyone for your help and support during her illness.
A celebration of her life will be held Friday, Oct 1, at 3 p.m. at the West End Presbyterian Church, 275 Knox Lane, West End. Following the service will be a visitation to greet family and friends. In the near future we will also travel to Harrisburg, PA for a small service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert N. Tarman Public Defender Scholarship. This scholarship was established to honor the memory of Betty’s twin brother. The scholarship helps provide advanced education and training in criminal defense practice. Contributions should be made payable to the Dauphin County Bar Foundation, 10 Dunover Court, Hummelstown, PA 17036.
