Charles C. DiLaura

Charles Crisento DiLaura, 77, of Whispering Pines, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 15, 2010.
He was the son of the late August and Agnes DiLaura. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the U.S. Army. He started his working career at Emigrant Savings Bank in New York City. He moved on to NCR, writing mortgage programs for banks and training them on how to use them. He then returned to banking, opening a branch in Whiting, N.J., for northern-based Berkeley Federal Savings. He rose to vice president and district coordinator of five branches in South Jersey. Charles moved on to the Resolution Trust Corporation of the FDIC, closing savings banks that were in trouble.
He retired in 1995 and moved to Whispering Pines, where he loved to play golf and decorate his home for the holidays. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the VFW and the Whispering Woods Golf Club.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; his daughter, Darlene, son-in-law, Paul Guilfoyle, and grandchildren, Megan and Paul Jr.; his nephew, Anthony Fenimore and wife, Marilyn; his sister, Darcy Sullivan, husband, Patrick, and nephew, Sean. Charles is also survived by stepsons, Don Ruprecht Jr., Thomas and wife, Penny Ruprecht, and Stephen Ruprecht; stepdaughter, Joan Maund and husband, Michael; and four step-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth; and his sister, Eileen Fenimore.
A viewing and funeral mass at St. Aloyius will be followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lakewood, N.J.
