Virginia Lucille Wright Van Vliet, 84, of Southern Pines, died peacefully Friday, Sept. 3, 2010, at St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center.
Lucille Van Vliet was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Hendersonville, to the late Perry B. Wright and Emma Brown Wright.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at First Baptist Church of Southern Pines Friday, Sept. 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at First Baptist Church Saturday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m.
Lucille will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, educator, mentor, neighbor and friend to all.
She is survived by her husband, Robert, of Southern Pines; a daughter, Jo Ann, and son-in-law, Hans Jurgen Guth, of Tubingen, Germany; a son, Alan Van Vliet and wife, Elaine, of West End; granddaughters, Victoria and Alexandra, of West End; and a sister, Doris Wright, of Middletown, Md.
