On Saturday morning, Sept. 11, 2010, Mary Anderson Laws, 89, of Goldsboro, moved to her Heavenly home. Mary was a godly woman who loved the Lord and her family, and set an example for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.
Mary was born May 13, 1921, in Wayne County, to the late Will Anderson and Annie Myrtle Corbett Anderson. She was married to the late Gurney Alvin Laws. Mary was a caring, loving wife, mother and grandparent, whose primary goal was the happiness and security of her family. She was an active member of Falling Creek United Methodist Church and was also involved in its United Methodist Women. Mary also supported her husband in many of his business, civic and charitable activities.
Funeral services were held in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home Monday, Sept. 13, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bob Clark and the Rev. Craig Langston officiating. Burial followed in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Myrtle Ann Lumpkin, of Goldsboro; her sons, Alvin Laws and wife, Peggy, of Goldsboro, and Kenneth Laws and wife, Liz, of Southern Pines; six grandchildren, Alan Lumpkin and wife, Patsy, Al Laws II and wife, Denise, Ken Laws II and wife, Randi, Todd Laws and wife, Jen, Darin Laws and wife, Lisa and Sherri Kornegay and husband, Lawrence; 12 great-grandchildren, Kyla Laws, Molly Laws, Jack Laws, Eric Lumpkin, Damara Laws, Josh Laws, Kody Laws, Tommy Kornegay, Travis Kornegay, Jennifer King Goodson, Alyssa Laws and Triston Laws; and three great-great-grandchildren, Kristin, Gage, and Thomas Kornegay.
With loving gratitude, we would like to thank mother’s doctors, the staff of the seventh floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital and the nursing staff of Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their incredible guidance, wisdom and support.

The family received friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her residence, 590 Paul Hare Road, Goldsboro.
