Theodore L. Brown
Theodore Leroy “Roy” Brown, 86, of Southern Pines, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A private family service will be held.
Roy was born May 26, 1923, in Ft. Worth, Texas, son of the late Lura M. Brown. He graduated with honors from Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio, Texas.
He served in World War II as a Navy pilot, earning the rank of full lieutenant. He graduated with a business degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He began his career as a salesman with IBM in Dallas, Texas, in 1950. Over the next 35 years he held various executive management positions throughout the country and retired from the chairman’s office in 1985.
Following his love of golf, he and his wife moved to the Country Club of North Carolina, where he served as the chairman of the architectural committee and was an active member of the Scroll Committee for FirstHealth. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Pinehurst.
Mr. Brown is survived by his wife of 65 years, Bettie Sharp Brown; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Dale Moegling, of Pinehurst, and Betsy and Michael Broder, of Upper Saddle River, N.J.; four grandchildren, Stacie Moegling Bryant, Scotte Moegling, Ben Broder and Caroline Broder; and two great-grandchildren, Tripp and Luke Bryant.
