CAMPBELL

James Doyle Campbell, 79, of Seven Lakes, passed Tuesday, March 16, 2010, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mr. Campbell was born April 10, 1930, in Akron, Ohio, to the late Michael J. Campbell and Martha Fulk Campbell.
A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 20, at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church in Southern Pines with Monsignor Frank J. Hendrick officiating. Rite of committal will be at a later date. Friends and family are invited to a reception at the family’s home following the service.
Mr. Campbell grew up in Akron and played semi-pro hockey for the Akron Stars. He later served his country during the Korean War as a Navy Seabee. He retired with Roadway Express after 33 years of service. Mr. Campbell based his life around his strong Christian faith, good work ethic and moral family values. He was a kind man who could start a conversation with anyone he met no matter what the circumstance.
Mr. Campbell is survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara Pollock Campbell; three sons, Michael Louis Campbell and wife, Suzanne, of Mooresville, James Douglas Campbell, of Akron, Ohio, and Mark Allan Campbell, of Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Judith Campbell Kantorowski, of Essex Junction, Vt.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; and four nephews.
Mr. Campbell was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Campbell Mazzagatti.
