Althea Patricia Harris Rudrow, 76, of Charlotte, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010.
Born in Pinehurst, she was the mother of Gary Harris, daughter of Carnel Harris, both of Charlotte, and the sister of Effie Holland, of Omaha, Neb.
Mrs. Rudrow was a retired educator who had taught for 25 years in the New York City school system, a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University, a leader in Democratic political circles and a long-time member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
After spending her formative years in her native North Carolina, Mrs. Rudrow moved to Englewood, N.J., where she resided for over 30 years. She acquired a master’s degree in primary education from Fordham University and another from Lehman College. She taught at C.S. 134 in the Bronx, and was a former trustee of Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church in Englewood, N.J.
Funeral services for Mrs. Rudrow will be held Monday, March 15, at 2 p.m. at Weeping Willow A.M.E. Zion Church, 2220 Milton Road, Charlotte.
