Alice Jones Strickland, former resident of the Midway community in Aberdeen, died Friday, Feb. 19, 2010, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was the daughter of Leslie Jones Sr. and the late Leana Jones. She worked as a home care provider for babies and young children and as a printer for the Department of Social Services.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, at Coney Island Gospel Assembly in Brooklyn, N.Y. Burial followed at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Morganville, N.J.
Surviving are her husband, Ernest Strickland; two daughters Angela Kelley (Ernest), and Victoria Strickland; father, Leslie Jones Sr.; eight sisters, Essie Mae Raye, Mae West Jones, Mary Jones, Helen Stephens, Frances Gregory (Junior), Brenda Simmons, Linda Martin (Larry) and Deborah Horton (Lewis); three brothers, James Jones (Elaine), John Jones and Robert Jones (Debra); three aunts; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
