Marion Louise Kerver, 81, of Whispering Pines, died Sunday, March 7, 2010, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Southern Pines, with the Rev. Scott Homesley and the Rev. Pam Northrup officiating.
She was born March 13, 1928, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Walter and Alma Wolf Schultz. She graduated from St. Luke Hospital Nursing School in 1951 and was a registered nurse for 35 years, working for FirstHealth Moore Regional prior to retirement. She and her husband have lived in the Whispering Pines area for 26 years. She loved golf, achieving the only hole-in-one in the family, was a volunteer for the Community and Visitors Bureau, a licensed Realtor and a member of the Piney Pipers musical group. She not only played mahjongg, but taught the game to Whispering Pines newcomers. Mrs. Kerver was a charter member of the committee for building a columbarium at Our Saviour Lutheran. She was active in her community and displayed a desire for always being busy.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald; two sons, Dale Kerver and wife, Judith, of Painesville, Ohio, and Keith Kerver and wife, Margaret, of Mayfield Village, Ohio; one brother, Robert Schultz and wife, Jean, of Casper, Wyo.; and six grandchildren, Kimberly, Alyssa, Nicholas, Luke, Julianne and Jack Kerver.
She was predeceased by her parents, and two brothers, Richard and Franklin Schultz.
