NOMMENSEN

Catherine L. Nommensen, 94, of Southern Pines, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Pinehurst HealthCare in Pinehurst.
A long-time resident of Knollwood Village in Southern Pines, she was born at Harmony Hall in White Oak. She graduated from Shaw University in Chicago, Ill. She spent her career as a judicator and claims adjuster for the Railroad Retirement Board, a branch of the federal government.
Catherine met her husband of 50 years, Arthur Nommensen, in 1957 at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. He was a dance instructor. Catherine and Art spent many years as professional ballroom dancers. Catherine was also an expert seamstress and sewed most of her ball gowns.
Catherine was preceded in death by her father, mother, one brother and two half-brothers.
Catherine is survived by her husband, Arthur; and a daughter, Debbie Davis and her husband, Edward, and their son and daughter, Jay and Holly.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
