Evelyn F. Leavee

Evelyn Florence Leavee, of Pinehurst, died on March 3, from Alzheimer’s complications. She was 92.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Raymond; her son, Ken; her daughter-in-law, Candace; two sisters, Eileen and Madeline; her sister-in-law, Audrey; and pre-deceased by her brother, Colin. Also surviving are her other family members, grandsons, Ryan and Ian Crouch, Jane and Howard Field, as well as Evelyn’s god-children, Jenni and Jeffrey Riehm, and her golden retriever, Riley.
Evelyn was born in England in 1918, and relocated to New York in 1929. She married Raymond in 1944.
She was active throughout her life in community and church affairs.
In Plainfield, N.J. She was treasurer of The King’s Daughters Day Nursery and chairman of the board of the trustees at Crescent Avenue Presbyterian Church for nine years. She was an elder as well. She was also co-chairman of an annual classical concert series that raised over one half million dollars for Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center.
After relocating to Pinehurst in 1989, Evelyn became a ruling elder at Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Southern Pines and served as director of worship for many years.
Throughout Mom’s final years, countless members of her church community, neighborhood and friends have been so very kind in offering help, support, nourishment and strength to her and our entire family. For these thoughtful gifts, we are extremely grateful.
Although she loved flowers but in lieu of them, contributions could be made to either The Citizens Pet Responsibility Committee in c/o Angela Zumwalt, 2140 Airport Road, Whispering Pines 28327, the Brownson Memorial Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund or FirstHealth Hospice.
Mom was gracious, thoughtful and kind … the very heart of our family.
