Walter “W.J.” Brower, 73, of Carthage, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Carthage Elementary School, with Elder Alphonsa Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in New Zion Cemetery, Robbins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Stony Hill Freewill Baptist Church, Carthage.
He is survived by his wife, Luvenia Brower; two daughters, Karen Brower-Allis, of Bronx, N.Y., and Antoinette Cox, of Atlantic City, N.J.; two sons, Anthony Brower, of Atlantic City, N.J., and Kendell Brower (Paula), of Bridgeport, Conn.; one stepdaughter, Robin Atkins (Lester), of Durham; one stepson, Andre Lambertson, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two aunts, Bessie Henderson (Johnnie), of Charlotte, and Ocie Smith, of Philadephia, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
