Mary A. Harris

Mary Elizabeth Asbill Harris, 87, of Carthage, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation Center in Carthage.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Bill Monroe. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Maggie Dowdy Asbill. She was a homemaker and farmed tobacco and raised chickens with her husband, the late Warren G. Harris, who died in 2009. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon Asbill. She was a graduate of Carthage School and was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for 68 years.
She is survived by her son, Steve Harris and wife, Virginia (Ginny), of Carthage; grandsons, Michael Harris and wife, Julie, of Carthage, and Mitchell Harris and fiancee, Tiffany Smith, of Seven Lakes; sisters, Gladys Barker, of Carthage, and Doris Bunnell, of Cameron; brothers, Sam Asbill and wife, Betty, of Carthage, and Ray Asbill and wife, Alice, of Florida.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
