Dovie Garfield Alsup,  passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at Quail Haven Village, Pinehurst, where she received excellent, loving care.
 Dovie was born April 23, 1927, in Detroit, Mich., to the late Leonard and Celia Zentz Garfield.
 She was preceded in death by her husband, Julian “Al” Alsup, and a brother, Jimmy Garfield. She is survived by no close relatives.
Dovie had a unique personality. She enjoyed traveling with her husband while stationed in Europe by the Army, and she never met a stranger. She loved to laugh and have a good time with her many friends. But, she had a serious side too, and spent many years helping others understand the truth about the Bible in her dedicated service as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
All who knew Dovie will remember her fondly and miss her dearly.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, West Pennsylvania Avenue, Southern Pines.
