WARD

Edna S. Ward, 90, of Lakeview, passed Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
Mrs. Ward was born Aug. 30, 1919, in Kansas City, Kan. to the late Harrison Sumner and Jessie Harrison Sumner.
A visitation will be held Thursday April 22, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with a service beginning at 8 p.m. Burial will be private at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery.
Mrs. Ward graduated from junior college in Kansas and later went on to work in Washington, D.C., with the Department of the Army during World War II. She transferred to Detroit, Mich., where she met her husband, Alfred, and raised four children there. Alfred and Edna relocated to Lakeview in 1962, where they remained until passing. Edna was employed by Weight Watchers International and was a member of the Church of God in Vass.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her sons, Dick Ward, of Yipsilanti, Mich., Billy Ward, of Lumberton, and Phill Ward, of Asheville; a daughter, Sharon Fauscett, of Durham; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Alfred E. Ward, in 1987; and a son, Edward Ward.
