Clarence W. Johnson
Clarence Walter Johnson, 83, of Southern Pines, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
Clarence was born May 26, 1926, in Durham County, to the late Clarence W. and Alice Bolling Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He met and married his wife, Marye Demaree, in 1952. He graduated from American University in 1954. He worked most of his career for the federal government as an auditor in Washington, D.C., and Europe for the U.S. Army Audit Agency, Defense Audit Service and the Department of Transportation, Office of Inspector General. He and his wife retired to Pinehurst in 1996.
He is survived by his sister, Doris Johnson, of Culpeper, Va., and his beloved dog, Launa Lou. He was predeceased by his parents; his wife of 49 years, Marye; a sister, Caroline Mae; and his dogs Lady Pumpkin, Lord Pingling and Lady Mai-Lyn.
