Edward Wayne Smolensky, 74, of Pinehurst, passed away at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital Wednesday, April 7, 2010, after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was born April 20, 1935, in West Orange, N.J., to Carol and Helen Smolensky. He was a graduate of Blair Academy, Blairstown, N.J., and Princeton University. He served his country with the Counter Intelligence Corps. He worked for Prudential Asset Management Company, a subsidiary company of Prudential Financial. Before coming to Pinehurst, he lived in Basking Ridge, N.J., for many years.
He leaves his wife, Arline Jespersen Smolensky; one daughter, Karen Mailhot (Richard); and two granddaughters, Emily and Katelyn of Blairstown, N.J. He also leaves two sisters, Carole Dickerson, of Powell, Wyoming and Claire Musetto of Woodstock, N.Y.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
