R.C. Styers

R.C. Styers, 90, of Aberdeen, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010.
Mr. Styers was born Aug. 2, 1919, in Forsyth County, to the late William Abram Styers and Esther Markland Styers. He was a veteran of his country and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945. His rank was technician fifth grade. He was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign War. He enjoyed gardening and sold the produce that he raised. Mr. Styers enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by one son, Michael M. Styers and wife, Phyllis, of Kings; two daughters, Shirley Styers Hall and husband, David, of Burlington, and Beverly Styers McAnulty, of Andalusia, Ala.; grandchildren, Nikki Hall Welch, Zane Alan Styers, Meghan Styers Wood, Zachary Fulton Styers and three other grandchildren and one great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Alan Styers, Lee Styers, Hugh Styers, Buck Styers, Fred Styers, Odell Styers; and two sisters, Joy Tyner and Nell Garner.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 7, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 8, at 11 a.m. at First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Aberdeen with Dr. Karl Minor officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Bethesda Cemetery in Aberdeen.
