Caren M. Dreher

Caren "Cari" Margaret Dreher died Saturday, April 3, 2010.
Known as Cari to all her friends, she was born Aug. 7, 1964, in Detroit, Mich., to Janet and Richard Nigbor. She was well known for being a thoughtful and caring person. Cari was an accomplished artist, having won many awards locally. She had studied under Jeffrey Mims at the Mims Studios in Southern Pines. Cari was devoted to her dogs and cats and would always put out a helping hand to any animals in need. She was also well known for being the “cookie lady” to many friends and children in the Southern Pines area for her many styles of cookies. She had also been a yoga instructor at Santi Yoga Studios until last year.
Cari was preceded in death by her mother, Janet Nigbor. She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Paul Dreher; her father, Richard Nigbor, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Dana Alpeter, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a brother, Jon Nigbor, of Portland, Ore. She also is survived by her mother- and father-in-law, Peggy and Richard Dreher, of Charlotte; and a brother-in-law, Peter Dreher, of Williamsburg, Va.; and five nieces and nephews, Courtney and Catherine Alpeter, Elizabeth, Leon and Matthew Dreher.
Msgr. Jeffrey Ingram will celebrate a Mass of Christian burial  at St. Anthony  of Padua  Catholic Church in Southern Pines at 10 a.m. Wednesday April 7.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the animal shelter The Haven - Friends for Life, 400 Fulford-McMillan Road, Raeford, NC 28376.
