D. George Samuel Jr.

D. George “Sam” Samuel Jr., of Southern Pines, passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010.
He was born Jan. 20, 1932, to the late D. G. Samuel Sr. and Gertrude Parrish Samuel.
He was a graduate of R.J. Reynolds High School, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the Naval Supply Corps School in Athens, Ga. He served his country as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserves, stationed at the U.S Naval Supply Depot, Yokosuka, Japan. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 30 years service and was the former owner of Queen Street Antiques and Market Place Antique Mall. He loved reading, traveling, camping and cooking.
He is survived by his life partner, Andy A. Martin, of the home; one brother, John A. Samuel (Judy), of Walkertown; one son, Michael Samuel (Anna), of Winston-Salem; and three daughters, Cheryl Pyatt (Tom), of Summerville, S.C., Mendal Flow (Ralph), of Durham, and Martha Farmer( Tim), of Clemmons; and 11 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 6, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Boles Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Ken Hull officiating.
