Obituary Policies All obituaries in The Pilot are charged through the funeral home on a per-word basis comparable to the advertising space rate offered to nonprofit organizations. Families may provide whatever information they wish about a deceased loved one, though all obituaries are subject to editing by the News Department. "In Memoriam" and "Thank You" notices are available through the Advertising Department. Obituaries should be submitted through the funeral home. Each obituary must include the funeral home name for verification. Deadlines are 2 p.m. Tuesday for Wednesday's edition, 2 p.m. Thursday for Friday and Noon Saturday for Sunday. Deadlines are earlier for "In Memoriam" and "Thank You" notices Obituary information may be e-mailed to obits@thepilot.com or faxed to (910) 692-9382
