Danny Wimmer Presents a California-based, premier music producer will host a three day destination music festival on the Rockingham Festival Grounds, May 10-12, 2019. Epicenter will serve its growing mid-atlantic market and is projected to be one of their largest events to date. Some of the major acts include: Foo Fighters, Evanescence, Tool, Judas Priest, Bush, Rob Zombie, Korn and many more.
Epicenter Festival replaces Carolina Rebellion, which was held in Charlotte from 2011 — 2018. Tickets go on sale Dec. 14, pricing information and the full three-day lineup of musical guests is available online at www.epicenterfestival.com
Epicenter Festival will be held in Rockingham. The new festival grounds will be developed in coordination with Rockingham Dragway and Rockingham Speedway, with more music, extensive camping options, and no curfew.
“This festival will be one of the largest events this county has hosted, and we are prepared. The economic impact is expected to exceed $40 million and will be a great boost to our local economy,” said Richmond County Commissioner Kenneth Robinette.
He credited the success with Epicenter as the “result of a strong spirit of collaboration that exists in Richmond County. County Manager Bryan Land has been working with Steve Earwood owner of Rockingham Dragway, Dan Lovenheim owner of Rockingham Motor Speedway and state/local officials to ensure this venue came to Richmond County.”
Festival producer Danny Wimmer said the creation of the ‘Epicenter of rock n’ roll’ in the heart of North Carolina provides the ability to expand on the festival experience with enhanced camping amenities, nighttime entertainment with no curfew, and expanded food and beverage offerings, all highlighted by a massive music lineup covering the spectrum of rock, metal and alternative rock music.
"We are very proud of what Carolina Rebellion represented, so we understand that our decision to replace it was confusing to people. It took more time than we had hoped to make the final decision and then work out all of the details. Ultimately, we felt that there was so much more that we could accomplish in the right circumstances,” Wimmer said. “There's always a next level to strive for — and after 8 great years of Carolina Rebellion, Epicenter is that next level."

"In a project being led by the new owners of the Rockingham Speedway (the Rock), together with Richmond County, Rockingham Dragway and the other local landowners, we are working to develop a first class destination festival site,” said Danny Hayes, CEO of Danny Wimmer Presents. “We are grateful to the Rock's Dan Lovenheim and Richmond County Manager Bryan Land for spearheading this move and look forward to unveiling the lineup. Trust me, it's worth the wait."
