BackPack Pals of Moore County was created eight years ago to meet the needs of children known to have little or nothing to eat on the weekend. The program began in one school with 25 children.
There are now 24 schools and 1,100 children in the program. Food items needed for the children are single-serve cereal, nutrition bars, applesauce, juice boxes and raisins. They can be placed in the specially decorated boxes located in the club's golf shop.
Jane Pajak, council member of the Sandhills Food Bank Regional Council, is chairing the event. For more information, contact Linda Hubbard, Director, Moore County BackPack Pals program, 692-5959, Ext 2407.
