Please tell me sequestration will stop the wasted tax dollars being poured into Moore County Airport, e.g., runway extension and remodeling an already beautiful lobby.

Sequestration has nothing to do with present projects and future planning. The grants for the two runway extension projects have already been allocated and in fact one of the two projects has been completed. The "beautiful" lobby is old and obsolete, designed many years ago for now non-existant airline service. There is no longer airline service at the Moore County Airport, never will be, and the last experiment with service was a financial disaster. Half the building is wasted space, a re-do is long overdue. Word is that plans have been prepared to revise the interior of the building to reflect what the airport actually does: support personal and charter/fractional operations, flight instruction and maintenance by providing more office space, better crew space, better vendor locations, better space for flight instruction and the PC based aviation training device and better passenger space, all just waiting until $ are available to pay for the work.

I presume that would be the taxpayers' dollar.

You presume wrong, as usual.

No Old Pilot, you’re wrong. You cannot honestly say that not a dime of taxpayer money is being spent on these “improvements”. Matching grants and the funds they’re matched with are all taxpayer dollars. Even the entrance road has been upgraded with better lighting than on most public streets…..and the monthly payments are supplemented with taxpayer dollars. All brought to you by the same county commissioners that brought you the famous Criminal Resort and Spa in downtown Carthage.

"reformgov1"...learn to read. The subject of discussion is the effect, if any, of sequestration on the ongoing projects at the airport (none) and the use, if any, of "taxpayer" funds on the possible renovation of the terminal building. The presumption that "taxpayer" funds would fund the renovation is at best premature. If you know of an FAA grant available for terminal renovation don't keep the secret to yourself, because absent such a (so far nonexistant) grant the funds for the renovation will come from the usual source, the $ spent by owners who base their aircraft at the airport, pay hangar rent, purchase fuel and pay personal property taxes for the privilege of owning an airplane in Moore County, and those who use the airport, and pay for fuel, tiedown fees, and landing fees. Of course the airport itself is owned by Moore County, which is to say the local, state and federal taxpaying citizens of Moore County, so to the extent federal grant and local match $ are spent to improve the airport as part of the transportation infrastructure the owners of the airport, and it's users all benefit.

The grants ~ Sequestration or whatever topic that involves the Taxpayer Giveaway by MoF is taxpayer money. The only reason the airport authority is spending money like Washington and Carthage is the Golf Tournaments. Period!

Those pine trees were supposed to be replaced with grass and crepe myrtle trees. The grass looks great!

No, grass and possibly low growing native vegitation. Which has nothing at all to do with sequestration and/or the obsolete terminal building.
