K-9 Kyran was loved by the general public and loathed by suspects. K-9 Kyran, a Belgian Malinois born on December 8, 2002 died Monday February 25, 2013 as a result of complications from cancer. Kyran was not only a police dog, but an ambassador to our community. In his decorated career with the Southern Pines Police Department, K-9 Kyran was a regular visitor to our schools, scout troops and countless other community events. K-9 Kyran had the unwavering ability to socialize with the general public while being tough on suspects upon command.
