A Carthage woman is charged with felony fraud in connection with unauthorized withdrawls from a bank account, said Moore County Sheriff Lane Carter.

Joan Alexandria Mofield, 33, of 947 McCaskill Road, Carthage, is charged with one count of felony obtaining property by false pretense. She is also facing a similar charge in Lee County after she was served with an outstanding warrant.

She was confined to the Moore County Detention Center under a $2,500.00 secured bond. Her first court appearance is scheduled for March 21, 2013 in Moore County District Court in Carthage N.C.

The arrest stems from an investigation into a report of fraud made by Howard Mofield from the Carthage area. Mr. Mofield had noticed over a period of several months his account balance was fluctuating. He was advised by the Wells Fargo Bank in Southern Pines that his account had unauthorized withdrawals.
