Kooba Richard collected her second straight hat trick of the season Thursday for Union Pines in a 4-1 Lady Viking soccer victory over 4-A Scotland County in Laurinburg.
With the win the visiting Vikes improved to 2-0 on the season.
One of three 2012 North Carolina Soccer Coaches Association all-region selections on the current Union Pines roster, Richard now has six goals in two games played this season. The center midfielder also found the back of the net three times in Union Pines' season-opening 4-1 win on the road against Hoke County.
Union Pines' other two returning NCSCA all-region selections from last season are senior fullback Elena D’Argenio and junior forward/midfielder Hanna Kiser.
Senior midfielder Becca Greene also scored a goal for Union Pines Thursday, in its non-league victory over the Fight Scots.
The Lady Vikings remain on the road for their next match, Wednesday, in Spring Lake, to take on league rival Overhills (1-1-1) in their 3-A Cape Fear Valley Conference opener.
