Spring is a little over two months away and the Pinehurst Garden Club is in high gear for its annual plant sale.
For more than 15 years, geraniums, begonias, impatiens and vinca could be ordered in advance and picked up at the Village Green.
This year, April 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., pick up of pre-ordered plants will be at a new location.
"Volunteers will load your car at a drive-through entrance at the corner of Magnolia Road and Rassie Wicker Drive, between the Pinehurst Village Hall and the Pinehurst Fire Station," says a spokesman.
Due to popular requests, mandevilla may also be pre-ordered. Day of sale items now will include all the above, plus hanging baskets and herbs - all healthy, Moore nursery-grown plants at competitive prices.
Each year, profits from the plant sale are used to fund a full scholarship to a landscape gardening student at Sandhills Community College as well as beautification projects in the Sandhills, expanding beyond Pinehurst.
Projects have included landscaping Habitat for Humanity homes, funds for the Greenway Trail and the Women's Exchange, Master Gardeners working with children, Sandhills Children's Center as well as Pinehurst Village plantings and Christmas swags.
Pre-orders are currently being taken. For information or to order, contact any Pinehurst Garden Club member, or call (910) 235-0070 or (910) 295-3485.
