The Pinehurst Lawn Bowls Club staged a "bowl for your favorite charity" tournament on Saturday, Feb. 9.

"We were blessed with sunny skies, and the competition was fast and friendly," says Don Dowd.

The entry fee to this tournament was the donation of a can of vegetables or soup.

"We encouraged all members of our club, friends and even visitors to contribute and compete," says Dowd.

The winner of the tournament named the charity of his/her choice for the canned goods donation.

"We were able to donate 62 cans of vegetables and soup to Moore Coalition for Human Care," says Dowd. " It was fun to bowl and for such a worthwhile cause. We thank all who participated and for the support of Pinehurst Country Club."

The next charitable lawn bowls tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at the Pinehurst Lawn Bowling Green, Pinehurst Country Club.
