Patriots Split With Bucks

Two Pinecrest teams going in different directions entertained Hoke County Tuesday evening.

In the opener, the Patriot girls (11-6, 4-1) defeated the Bucks 50-22 for their fourth Southeastern Conference win in a row.

Janea Wlliams scored a game-high 15 points. Felicia Painter contributed 14 to go with 16 rebounds and four assists.

Coach Janie Hodges’ squad will be seeking a share of first place when it travels to Lumberton (14-3, 4-0) on Friday.

The Patriot boys (10-6, 2-3) will be going to Lumberton trying to end a three-game losing streak.

They battled sixth-ranked Hoke (17-2, 5-0) to a standstill for three quarters before a 13-0 run turned the brave effort into a 67-51 loss.

Tarique Thompson led the Bucks with 24 points. Adam Cummings topped the home team with 16.
