Bulldogs Sweep Mustangs

The North Moore boys’ and girls’ basketball teams were swept Tuesday night at Albemarle.

After trailing the entire game, the Lady Mustangs cut Albemarle's lead to one point midway through the third quarter.

Then the host Lady Bulldogs went on a 15-0 run that included three straight three-pointers from freshman Kyleigh McLendon en route to a 68-50 victory.

The Mustangs were led by senior Jalisa Davis who finished with 27 points, including five three-pointers. North Moore is now 6-5 in Yadkin Valley Conference action and 11-7 overall while Albemarle is 4-6 in league play and 5-10 overall.

In the boys’ game, the Mustangs hung tough through the first quarter, but then the Bulldogs’ defense took control of the game, creating North Moore turnovers for easy Albemarle buckets.

The Bulldogs went on to a 67-43 victory. Quashan Davis paced the Mustangs with11 points while Malik Chisholm added nine points.

North Moore falls to 6-5 in conference play and 9-9 overall while Albemarle improves to 9-1 and 13-1.

The Mustangs travel to West Montgomery Friday with the girls’ game scheduled to start at 6 p.m. followed by the boys’ contest.
