I don’t usually comment on Pilot editorials, but this time, when I read your tribute to Lane Carter, sheriff of Moore County, I felt compelled to throw in my two cents.

Lane, in my humble opinion, has represented what’s best about law enforcement and has done so with integrity and sterling leadership.

For his many years of service to our community, we should all pause and give thanks for Lane. I’ve known him for many years, and I know that his dad and mom, who are no longer with us would say, “Amen, Lane. You did good!”

Very best wishes and I hope you have a long and happy retirement. You deserve it.
