It was a record-breaking day for Jacob Talbert and a good win for the O’Neal boys Tuesday.

The Falcons knocked off visiting Fayetteville Christian at the Bradshaw Activities Center 55-54 to pick up its fifth win in six games.

Fayetteville Christian rallied late, but Talbert canned five-of-six free throws to ice the Cape Fear Valley Conference game in which the Falcons never trailed. Talbert finished with a double-double, scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. More impressive, he is now the school’s leading career scorer with a total of 1,209 points.

Theo Johnson added nine points for the Falcons (8-8 overall, 3-1 conference), while John Roger Moore and Jack Johnston chipped in with six points each.

O’Neal faces Cape Fear Academy in Wilmington on Friday, then travels to Coastal Christian on Saturday.
