In a season where a good deal of the news involves testy differences such as how many assault rifles it takes to kill a deer, how about a grateful look at a segment of our local health care industry?

I am thinking of the amazing doctors and staff at the Endoscopy Center at the Pinehurst Medical Clinic. My colon was feted there today in one of those (every) decade visits that most of us dread. But it is difficult to dread an experience that involves such thoughtful personal care, such satisfying joy juice for those of us not interested in seeing our colons being scoped, and such comfortable environs for the procedure.

Thanks to all of the above, this evening I remember kindness and professionalism. Welcome memories to consume the next decade.
